A
small dark yellow coloured plum which is both sweet and full
of flavour, the Mirabelle plum is mainly grown in Eastern France
and especially in the Lorraine region.
The fruit ripens in August, when it seems ready to burst with
sugar and becomes flecked in appearance. |

6kg
of fresh Mirabelle plums are required in order to obtain one
70cl bottle at 45% vol., i.e., 18 kg of fruit in order to
manufacture 1 litre of pure alcohol (1 litre at 100% vol.).

Very sweet
when it comes out of the still, Mirabelle plum brandy does
not require as long an ageing period as some other brandies.
However, it is very sensitive to light which may modify its
aroma, transparency and sparkle.
Mirabelle plum brandy is best savoured neat in small mouthfuls
in which all the magic of the fruit is revealed. It adds character
to cocktails and
a touch of refinement to long drinks. It is reputed for its
digestive properties.
