A big, oblong-shaped plum characterised by its purple skin, yellow flesh and flat stone, it ripens in October and is found mainly in Alsace.

This type of plum was very popular before the last war and is today regaining popularity amongst a growing number of connoisseurs both in France and abroad.

8kg of fresh "Quetsche" plums are required in order to obtain one 70cl bottle at 45% vol., i.e., 25 kg of fruit in order to manufacture 1 litre of pure alcohol (1 litre at 100% vol.).

It can be savoured either cooled or on the contrary served in a warm coffee cup.

It is also used in several cocktails and long drinks as well as an ingredient in many tasty dishes.
